Mollie’s Fund / Pharma & Health
Overview
Mollie’s Fund exists so that fewer people die of melanoma, and You’re My Sunshine carries that message the way a lullaby would: tenderly, then it stays with you. Made pro bono with AREA 23, an IPG Health company, the film runs fluid 2D cel animation through LOBO’s AI pipeline, Stable Diffusion folded into the craft, for a hyper-real, surreal language about prevention and early detection. The film launched in the United States in January 2025 and was shortlisted at D&AD 2025 for Use of Emerging Technology.

How it was made
The brief asked for fluid 2D animation that still felt hyper-real. Those two things usually pull against each other: the more real the render, the stiffer the drawing.
So the film was animated as traditional 2D cel, then rendered through the studio’s diffusion pipeline, the same approach LOBO developed on The Snowball and pushed further here. The drawing keeps its hand; the surface gains a depth that cel alone cannot reach.
It is a piece that could not have been made any other way inside a pro bono budget, which is the point: the technique existed to protect the idea, not to replace the artists.

Behind the work
A film about sun protection for children, built with the care of a picture book: the girl was designed and redesigned, every expression rehearsed on paper, the whole edit drawn as a boardmatic before a single frame was rendered. AREA 23 wrote the letter of intent; LOBO built the world.
