Overview
Eisenbahn brews the patient way, so the film honours patience: The Beauty of the Process unfolds through a hand-built miniature world, model trains on balsa trestles, small machines and slow hands, every set constructed for real in the studio. The making-of shows just how much of it existed in front of the camera rather than inside one.
The film
The idea is one continuous journey. A model steam train sets off from a sack of grain and travels through everything the beer is made of, a field of wheat, the roast, the boil, the water, before arriving at the bottle. Nothing is a metaphor. Each stage is a physical set built to scale and shot in camera.

On the set
The numbers above are not estimates, they are what the set required. Eighteen thousand wheat branches were fixed by hand in four sizes, which is the photograph of someone gluing them one at a time. The brewery was built at one to fifty-five. Two hundred and fifty of the eight hundred sleepers carry neodymium magnets, so the locomotive holds the rail through a loop. Twelve hours for one stop-motion sequence. Shot in 2020, which is why everyone is masked.
